Advocacy, Follow-Through & Strategy

Life is a lot.

Work. Relationships. Decisions. Systems.

For neurodivergent people, it adds up fast.

Ability Pathways provides practical mentoring and advocacy for neurodivergent adults who want life to feel more manageable—and to move forward with less overwhelm.

It's follow-through support that sits in the gap.

diagnosis? ✔ what now?

A new diagnosis can bring relief, clarity, and a lot of questions.

What do we do next?

Who needs to know?

How does NDIS actually work?

Where do we even begin?

This 4-week small-group workshop is designed for parents and carers and newly diagnosed adults who want structure, not overwhelm.

Over 8 hours, we work through:

  • The emotional adjustment and how to inform family
  • Getting organised and setting up simple systems
  • How NDIS works, and where people get stuck
  • Evidence collection and application strategy
  • Finding good providers and supports, and next steps
  • Budgeting and building a clear 6-12 month plan
  • Preparing for an NDIS review or Change of Circumstances

This is not therapy.

It's planning, clarity, and practical follow-through you need to do after diagnosis.

You will leave with a documented road map and your NDIS application ready to submit.

This is practical work. Not just more information.

FAQ

Please email us if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Ability Pathways provides neurodiversity-affirming coaching and advocacy for people who need practical support to follow-through on work, life, and systems. We sit between therapy and support work — so we do the work with you — helping people apply clinical advice, make the right decisions, and keep making progress without the overwhelm.

This is for adults diagnosed with forms of neurodiversity, dyslexia, autism, ADHD, and AuDHD, and parents/carers of similar young adults about to begin adult life, who are:

  • feeling overwhelmed and stuck
  • working, studying, or managing adult responsibilities
  • struggling with follow-through, clarity, or systems
  • require advocacy to navigate government systems.

We provide 1-on-1 work readiness training for young people living with disabilities, looking for work experience or advocacy to join the workforce or start a small business.

And people with a new diagnosis, who need help to navigate the application processes of Centrelink, NDIS and other government bodies.

No.

We don't provide diagnosis, therapy, legal advice or clinical treatment. We focus on practical mentoring, planning, and follow-through.

We can work alongside psychologists to help clients apply clinical advice and actions, and to build strategies that will result in better traction and progress between appointments.

No.

We are not support workers or social workers, and we do not provide ndis plan coordination or case management.

What we do is practical mentoring, coaching, restructuring and advocacy —  thinking things through, preparing, planning, organising, connecting, and taking supportive advocacy and action where needed.

That depends on what's getting in the way.

Common areas include:

  • Work, careers, and capacity to do work
  • Life organisation and decision-making
  • Relationships and communication
  • Assist with preparation and support in Centrelink and NDIS claims **
  • Coping strategies for parents of neurodivergent and ADHD young people
  • Evidence collection and applications
  • Supported follow-through on plans and advice from your allied health providers

** We are not lawyers. NOTE: Final decisions remain with the relevant agencies.

In some cases, yes.

Services may be billed under relevant Capacity Building supports where appropriate, or Finding and Keeping a Job funding. This depends on your plan, goals and funding type.

If you're unsure, ask — we'll talk it through.

Yes.

We can help you:

  • Understand what's required
  • Gather and organise evidence
  • Prepare written information
  • Attend meetings with you for support **

** We're not lawyers — but we provide practical advocacy where it helps.

Yes — many of our clients are already working and need help with overwhelm, anxiety and inclusion in the workplace.

We help people stay employed, manage expectations of supervisors, and build capacity in the workplace so employment remains sustainable.

Getting the job is step one.

Helping you to keep it — and continue coping — is where we do our best work.

Not yet. Our NDIS Registration is in progress. In the meantime, we can provide support for people who are self-managed, plan-managed, or self-funded. All services are structured under approved NDIS line items ensuring compliance and transparency.

Yes. We are carers ourselves and know what you are going through.

We support parents and carers of neurodivergent people, and can help you build strategies to find them employment, start a small business, navigate funding applications, and what comes next for your school leavers.

Much of our work can be funded by the NDIS under SLES, Capacity Building or Finding and Keeping a Job.

We're based in the ACT and are in Deakin on Tuesdays and Charnwood on Thursdays. We can also work with clients at other times and Australia-wide via online or on-site sessions.

We also offer a Mobile Implementation service if you require strategic support at 3rd party locations such as Centrelink or NDIS.

Start with a quick call back where we can discuss your issue for up to 15 minutes at no charge.

We'll talk through what's going on and help you decide the right pathway — no pressure, no hard sell.

For more complicated issues you may like to book a 90-Minute Initial Consultation so we can understand more about you.

Use the booking options on this page or get in touch via email or form below.

We'll respond clearly and let you know next steps.
